Ain Shams University (ASU) was established in 1950 under the name of Ibrahim Pasha University. It was the third in Egypt after Fouad I and Farouk I Universities (Cairo and Alexandria Universities). In 1954, the name was changed to the “University of Ain Shams” (The eye of the sun). Throughout its history, the university has always been in continuous development. Its graduates are highly distinguished in the employment market. It includes the following faculties and institutes: Arts, Law, Commerce, Science, Engineering, Medicine, Agriculture, Education, Women for Arts, Science and Education, Languages (Al–Alsun), Dentistry, Pharmacy, Computer Science and Information, Nursing, Institute of Environmental Studies and Research, and Institute of Postgraduate Childhood Studies.
